Your Accent is Charming!

Where I live here in Miami, everyone’s from somewhere else.

I meet so many people who are afraid to speak

because I have dees accent and I no speak zee English so good

The truth:

We understand you much better than you think we do.

Here in the USA where one in five people read below a fifth-grade level, many native speakers won’t be any better at English than you are.

And what about Penélope Cruz and Salma Hayek? Who would they be without their accents? They’d be pretty and talented, but so are a lot of other actors.

If you’re not from here, good for you and good for us.
