Should you share your slides?
Not if they’re good—and here’s why:
If your slides are well-designed, their purpose is to accompany you.
When you disconnect your slides from your talk you end up with:
Bullet points that lack explanations
And images that have no context
And if you’re using animations, unless you actually play the slide show, some slides will look like heaps of text and images.
Meeting organizers routinely ask speakers to share their slides.
Create a PDF or printed handout instead.
Not only will a handout offer information in a format people can actually consume, but the PDF format will make it much more difficult for anyone to edit or modify your content.
Don’t share your slides—especially if they’re good!
